Senior Platform Engineer

(AWS / Kubernetes / GitOps / AI-Native)

We are looking for Platform Engineers who build, not maintain.

This is a role for builders.

We don’t need someone who waits to be told what to do. We need someone who picks up a mission, drives it across teams, brings the right people in, and ships outcomes — not tickets.

If you are a team player who is assertive, takes ownership of ambiguous problems, and refuses to leave anything half-solved — this is your environment.

You will work closely with CloudOps, DevSecOps, FinOps, and SRE functions. You will also use AI and agentic AI as everyday engineering tools — not as experiments, but as part of your default workflow.

We expect AI fluency as a baseline skill, not curiosity.

Who You Are

  • A Platform Engineer / Builder who creates systems others depend on
  • A team player and collaborator — you build with people, not around them
  • Assertive and decisive — you propose, defend, and drive technical direction
  • Mission-driven — you own problems end-to-end and deliver outcomes
  • Innovative — you bring ideas and help the team adopt better ways of working
  • AI-native engineer — you use AI assistants and agentic workflows daily
  • Curious and continuous learner — growth is part of your job, not a side activity

Our Environment

You will operate in a modern AWS-based platform ecosystem:

  • AWS Control Tower landing zone with guardrails and account vending
  • AWS IAM Identity Center for federated access across accounts
  • Multi-account AWS strategy (prod, staging, dev, sandbox, shared services, security, logging)
  • Sandbox environments for experimentation with cost and security controls
  • Multi-VPC architecture with Transit Gateway and VPC endpoints
  • Amazon EKS as the primary runtime for platform and workloads
  • GitOps delivery model with Argo CD
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform / OpenTofu
  • Crossplane-based control planes enabling self-service infrastructure APIs
  • GitHub as a fully platform-owned surface (org, teams, repos, templates, governance)
  • GitHub Actions for CI/CD, reusable workflows, OIDC to AWS, environment controls
  • CI automation bots (PR validation, labeling, auto-assignment, auto-merge)
  • Copilot org policies and AI development standards across repositories
  • AI-augmented engineering workflows using Copilot and Claude
  • JFrog Artifactory as the artifact backbone (registries, promotion, scanning, signing)

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering (Core)

  • Build and evolve an internal developer platform (IDP) based on GitOps and Kubernetes
  • Design and deliver self-service infrastructure capabilities for product teams
  • Treat the platform as a product — developer experience is your primary metric
  • Contribute to IDP evolution using tools such as Crossplane, GitOps, and internal APIs
  • Maintain and extend Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / OpenTofu)
  • Deliver prototypes that evolve into production platform capabilities

AI & Agentic Engineering

  • Use AI coding assistants daily (Claude, Copilot, or equivalent)
  • Design agentic workflows to automate platform operations (debugging, remediation, documentation, scaffolding)
  • Build AI-augmented tooling into the platform where it improves developer velocity
  • Define and raise the standard for responsible AI usage in engineering

Cloud, AWS & Networking

  • Operate AWS services (EKS, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch)
  • Design and troubleshoot VPC architectures, routing, and multi-account networking
  • Work confidently with:
    • CIDR planning, subnets, route tables
    • Security groups, NACLs
    • Transit Gateway, VPC peering
    • Private connectivity via VPC endpoints
    • DNS (Route53)
  • Debug Kubernetes networking (Ingress, Services, CNI, Network Policies)

GitOps & Kubernetes

  • Operate Argo CD as a core delivery platform
  • Own multi-environment deployment strategies using ApplicationSets
  • Support progressive delivery (blue/green, canary where applicable)
  • Deploy, troubleshoot, and instrument Kubernetes workloads

GitHub Platform Ownership

  • Manage GitHub organization as a platform product:
    • Organization structure, teams, repositories, templates
    • Branch protection, environments, review policies
  • Build reusable GitHub Actions workflows for platform-wide consumption
  • Operate CI automation (PR checks, labeling, merge automation)
  • Define Copilot governance and AI usage standards across repositories
  • Ensure secure OIDC integration between GitHub and AWS

Artifact Management

  • Operate JFrog Artifactory (or equivalent systems at scale)
  • Manage registries (containers, Helm, language packages)
  • Define promotion flows across environments
  • Implement artifact security scanning, retention, and signing policies

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work cross-functionally with CloudOps, DevSecOps, FinOps, and SRE
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction
  • Drive adoption of platform standards across teams
  • Lead delivery of prototypes and platform capabilities
  • Communicate clearly and influence across engineering domains

Required Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 7+ years in Platform Engineering, SRE, or closely related roles
  • Strong platform mindset (you build systems, not ticket queues)
  • Deep AWS experience (EKS, IAM, networking, core services)
  • Strong Kubernetes operational experience
  • Hands-on Argo CD / GitOps experience
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform / OpenTofu
  • CI/CD pipeline design experience (tool-agnostic)
  • GitHub administration at scale (organizations, workflows, governance)
  • Experience with artifact management systems (JFrog or equivalent)
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash, etc.)
  • Proven ability to work across teams and deliver outcomes

Highly Desirable

  • Experience with IDP platforms (Backstage, Port, or similar)
  • Crossplane for Kubernetes-based infrastructure management
  • Argo ecosystem depth (Rollouts, Workflows, Events)
  • SRE practices: SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident response
  • DORA metrics and delivery performance tracking
  • Internal developer tooling or platform products

Additional Nice-to-Haves

  • Observability: Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
  • Service mesh (Istio, Linkerd)
  • FinOps and cloud cost optimization
  • Policy-as-code (OPA, Kyverno)
  • Certifications (CKA, AWS, Terraform)

Final Note

If you are a mission-driven engineer who builds systems, embraces AI as a core tool, and thrives in complex distributed environments — your place is with us.
